16U Ruffnecks Hardened by Experience – Bolstered by Additions

TEAM ROSTER | TEAM SCHEDULE

The 2024 16u Ruffnecks team returns a seasoned nucleus and several strong additions to its roster.  Last summer, this group was challenged by a difficult schedule and strong competition.  In 2024 they will be challenged again, which is what this group wants.  The roster welcomes several strong additions.  Returning infielders Garrett Falahee, Michael Fiengo, and William Goggin will be joined by newcomer Cam Reeves.  Reeves is a physical, athletic, infielder from the Cape.  The outfield is strengthened by the addition of Liam Kaferlein from Uxbridge HS. Both Reeves and Kaferlein also pitch.  Joseph Mayo from Souhegan HS in Amherst, NH joins a catching corps that features Logan Katz, and Matthew Ulincy who has reclassed at his school in North Carolina.  Coach Brendan Casey returns as the “Skipper” for his second season at the helm (10th overall in the program).

The 2024 schedule finds the 16u (primarily 2026 grads), playing a schedule that is almost identical to the 17u Ruffnecks schedule.  The two teams travel together for much of the summer.  Trips to Georgia and Nashville are on the late June calendar.  Both teams travel to Ohio at the end of July and into the first week of August at the Tournament of Champions.  Similarly, the teams play in the same events in our region.  The 16’s will attend the Firecracker July Fourth Showcase Tournament and compete in the 17u Division.

Pre-Season and Scout Day

The 16U schedule begins in early June with “Pre-Season” training the week of June 3rd at the NEBC.  These sessions are designed to be daily workouts to include batting practice, skill work, and to assess and recharge pitching arms for the busy summer.  The Pre-Season culminates with a SCOUT DAY on Wednesday, June 12.  Pre-Season workouts create an opportunity for players who have finished their spring seasons to recalibrate and get preparatory work done with instructive supervision.  The primary objective is development and preparation.  The 16U Ruffnecks travel June 19th to the PBR 16U National Championships in Emerson, Georgia to open the 2024 season in earnest. The squad finishes at the Tournament of Champions in Cincinnati, Ohio July 31-August 4.
