The 13u and 14u Ruffnecks play a robust schedule during the Spring Season which runs from the beginning of March to through Memorial Day Weekend. The team schedules are posted on the respective team pages. Players and families should consult the team schedule page and the “Announcements” on the home page of the website for updates. Email communications provide more immediate, timely notices as necessary.
Spring practices are held at the Roxbury Latin School and at The Ruffnecks Facility. Regular, on-field practices are scheduled for Thursdays (late afternoon to dusk). Players should always be in uniform at both venues. Updates are provided below:
It has been a difficult two weeks since the start of April. Even with turf fields, the misery of cold, soaking, rains has gripped the early Ruffnecks season for 13u and 14 players and families. As we head to public school vacation week the Ruffnecks have several combined roster games against prep JV squads. These midweek contests are great opportunities for playing time.
Both the 13u and 14u Ruffnecks were scheduled in the Ocean State Classic April 12-13. The event was canceled due to weather.
The 13u Ruffnecks played in the New England Perfect Game Invitational at the NEBC and surrounding fields the weekend of March 28-30. The quade secured the #1 seed in the event by virtue of their 2-0 record in the preliminary round. The young ‘Necks won the first game of the event in convincing fashion by a score of 13-1. Nine players recorded RBI’s. Jack Freyermuth, Colin Paddock, and Micah Goddess led the way. Each went 2 for 3 on the evening. Caden Healey and Trent Siegal pitched well.
The 14’s were rained out at Deerfield Academy JV on Saturday, March 29th. They returned home at RL for a sweep of a doubleheader against the GBG Hawks Sunday, March 30. The 14’s slogged through a weekend of miserable weather in the 14u Perfect Game Invitational at the NEBC April 5-6. The 14’s battled to two ties in the event on Saturday, April 5th. Sunday, April 6th was canceled.
