Scout Day Returns:

The Ruffnecks program has run its own Scout Day for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors with great success.  The last Scout Day, in June of 2024, attracted more than 50 college coaches from the Northeast and mid-Atlantic.  Our intent to re-establish Scout Day after a year hiatus, is to provide our players with an opportunity to display evaluative skills in front of college coaches. Objectives for Scout Day.

• Players gain experience presenting themselves as prospects.
• College Coaches get a pre-summer preview for following players.
• Scout Day is an opportunity to display the measurables college coaches like to see.
• In-person exposure is established.  Colleges will return to see players they like.
• Ruffnecks Scout Day presents Ruffnecks players in a programatic context.

Details

Comprehensive details will be posted on this page as plans develop.  Scout Day is for Ruffnecks players on the 15u, 16u, and 17u teams.  There may be some limitations to participation for players who have not had varsity level high school experience.

• Time:  2:00pm to 7:00pm

About Max McKenna

Max McKenna is a former collegiate player.  He played at Amherst College, graduating in 2011.  He coached at Phillips Andover under Kevin Graber while he was a teaching fellow at Andover.  From 2014 to September 2025 Mr. McKenna served in multiple capacities for Headfirst Baseball, a well respected organization in academically oriented baseball showcases. His experience in running clinics and showcases is extensive.
