Summer Schedule & Notices

The Summer of 2025 presents a busy schedule for all five Ruffnecks teams. The travel and tournament schedules for the older teams (15U, 16U, 17U) is particularly intensive with as many as 40-50 games in 60 days. 2025 Travel takes Ruffneck teams to New Jersey, Nashville, TN, Marietta, Georgia, and Cincinnati, Ohio. Participation in numerous New England Region events complement the travel schedule.  Summers are demanding and exhilarating for Ruffnecks players and teams.

Practices

All teams practice during the summer.  We do not just play tournaments.  Outdoor Practices are held at Roxbury Latin, while the Facility provides an indoor venue for team hitting sessions and independent work.  General Facility hours are 10:00 to 5:00 weekdays,

Summer Action Update
16u and 17u Ruffnecks at Super17

Both the 16u and 17u Ruffnecks squads participated in the Super17 at Diamond Nation in Flemington, NJ June 16-19.  We use the event to get the lineups sorted, prepare pitchers, and to play in front of the numerous colleges that scout the event.  Both teams went 2-2 at the 2025 event.

June 24 to June 30:  On the Road

On June 24th all three of the older Ruffnecks teams hit the road.  The 15u and 17u Ruffnecks travel together to the Music City Classic in Nashville, TN.  This is a demanding event with excellent, competitive, opponents.  While the 17u team plays in the 17u Division, the 15’s challenge themselves against top 16u teams from the South and elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the 16u Ruffnecks travel on June 24th to Marietta, Georgia to compete in the 17u Perfect Game WWBA National Championships.  This is event is considered the top summer event in the country.  Again, the 16’s challenge themselves against older competition.

Firecracker July 4th Classic

The 15u and 17u teams return June 28th and immediately play in the Firecracker Classic.  They are joined by the 13u and 14u Ruffnecks who also play in the event (at the 14u and 15u division levels respectively).  The 16’s return too late from Georgia to participate.  They will take a day off and prepare for the Boston Open Classic.
