Winter 2023 Schedule & General Information

As Ruffnecks players of all ages get ready for their spring seasons, the Winter Workout program provides an opportunity to conduct instructive spring training-like sessions.  Two early morning Winter Workouts at the Boston College Bubble are under our belt.  Over 80 players attended the February 5th and 12th workouts.  All ages mixed together in well paced positional work.  Reps, Reps, and more Reps were delivered by over a dozen coaches, professional scouts, and even Red Sox Hall of Fame Catcher, Rich Gedman.  Winter Workouts resume scheduled for the NEBC on February 26 and March 5 were canceled due to weather and field conditions.  Additional Team Hitting sesssions at the Facility included the instructive presence of professional scouts.

Winter Workouts Complete
Formal Winter Workouts for high school aged Ruffnecks are now complete.  The Facility remains a centerpiece for individual hitting and pitching preparation.  Facility hours are expanded leading up to the start of high school baseball on March 20.  We encourage Ruffnecks players to take advantage of the access.

13u and 14u Teams Continue Preparation for Season

What We Do and How it Works

Winter Workouts provide Spring Training-like preparation for Ruffnecks players to prepare for the 2023 baseball season.  The workouts are repetition oriented.  Winter Workouts utilize the resources of the indoor “Bubble” at Boston College, The Ruffnecks Facility, and outdoor access to the NEBC in Northborough.  Workouts consist of team and group hitting sessions, full-field positional sessions (at BC and NEBC), and side sessions (for pitchers).  Professional scouts and college coaches attend some of the sessions.

Whether preparation is for the spring (13U & 14U Ruffnecks teams), or for older players’ high school and prep seasons, our Winter Program takes a measured, purposeful, approach.  This means is that we offer plenty, but do not do too much!

Players are expected to wear ONLY Ruffnecks gear to Winter Workouts.  We ask Ruffnecks players to wear their BLUE, numbered tees or performance shirts, gray baseball pants or Ruffnecks sweats, and their Ruffnecks caps to all Winter Workouts.  Long sleeves are recommended during winter.  Ruffnecks players are asked to respond to weekly roll calls for attendance.  Notices for inclement weather or cancellations are communicated through email and postings on the home page of this website.  Families should NOT depart from home during winter weather without checking email and the website for updates.

This page is for referencing the Winter MONTHLY CALENDAR, Ruffnecks Clinics, and Winter Workout Updates. Hours for the Indoor Hitting Facility are posted on the Hitting Facility Page.
