13U Ruffnecks Fall Program Details:

The 13U Ruffnecks Fall Program is for rising 13U players… players who have just completed their final spring and summer on the small diamond. While the 13U Fall Program serves as a selection mechanism, it is definitely NOT designed as a tryout.  Our 13U Fall Baseball Program is a high energy, instructive, developmental program.  It is designed to teach and usher players along the transitional path to baseball on the big diamond.  It is a stand alone program, regardless of whether or not a player intends to be a candidate for the Ruffnecks 2022 13U team. This is the entry point to the Ruffnecks program.

The curriculum for 13U Fall Baseball is built around the fundamental principles for baseball on the full-sized diamond.  Even young players with experience on the big diamond find 13U Ruffnecks Fall Baseball a challenging and valuable developmental opportunity.  Drills, positional work, simulated game situations, and actual scrimmages comprise the curriculum.  Each week introduces new concepts with continuity.  Pitchers benefit from instructional flat ground work, sides sessions, and live opportunities to pitch one-inning stints in our intrasquad games.

  • The 13U Fall schedule is a fixed date schedule with activity on Sundays from 8:00am to 10:30am.
  • No activity the long weekend of October 9-11.
  • It is compatible with other sports commitments. Players may come late or depart early from sessions.
  • The six to seven week program is detailed, with a clear curriculum.
  • Concepts and skill work are introduced, presented, and taught.  We do not “just play.”
  • Sessions are staffed by coaches numbering between 12 and 15 or more instructors on a given week.

This program has limited capacity.  It is a popular Fall Baseball program.

Selection to the 2022 13U Ruffnecks Team:

We encourage players who are candidates for the 13U Ruffnecks to attend Fall Baseball.  Since we do not hold “tryouts” during the summer, our process is deliberate and instructive.  Nevertheless, we communicate with prospective candidates and families and respect that they have choices.  We do not recruit.  See the website page about the “Selection Process.”  As an alternative to “tryouts” for the 13U team we accommodate serious candidates between now and 13U Fall Baseball in the following manner:

  • Inquiries: We respond to inquiries, answer questions, and explain our program.  A phone conversation can be scheduled after an email inquiry to neruffnecks@gmail.com or a message left at (508) 409-4106
  • Interview Process:  We can schedule an interview via Zoom for prospective 13U players and families in advance of Fall Baseball.  Zoom interviews are scheduled for players with serious interest as candidates.  Interviews are granted to players and families who complete registration for 13U Fall Baseball and send payment in advance.

The Ruffnecks program does not field teams younger than 13U.  The roster selection process for the 2022 13U Ruffnecks is deliberate.  There are no tryouts to gain admission to Fall Baseball.  We simply ask aspiring candidates to participate in what we do, what we teach, and how we go about things, even if they are unable to attend every session.

HS Wood Bat Program (Weekends: Sept 11 to Oct. 24)

  • Inquiries should be made by email or by registering.  Families are welcome to email neruffnecks@gmail.com to inquire.
  • Candidates for Ruffnecks 2022 (14U and 15U) teams are encouraged to participate in the HS Wood Bat Program.
  • There is limited space for new registrations.  This program usually has a wait list.

HS Wood Bat Program Details:

The HS Wood Bat Program is designed as a flexible and developmental opportunity for rising 14U and 15U players.  The schedule provides multiple options for participation each weekend.  Players are assigned to one or more sessions based on their personal availability.  They are not expected to attend all sessions.

  • Wood Bats exclusively.
  • HS Wood players participate in a combination of NEBC Fall League games and Red vs. Blue Ruffnecks Games.
  • Red vs. Blue Games include instructive concepts and game activity.
  • NEBC League games are against non-Ruffnecks opponents.  There may also be opportunities to play in an NEBC tournament game.
  • There are no “fixed” rosters.  Each week rosters are built for the different time slots on the weekend schedule.  We limit rosters to 11-12 players to maximize playing, prioritize pitching, and to account for last minute absences.  We can accommodate 24 players for Red vs. Blue games.
  • All activity is at the NEBC on the turf fields.
  • Flexibility:  Multiple time slots each weekend to choose from.  There are some Saturday and some Sunday slots.  There is an occasional Friday slot to choose from.  Players are NOT obligated to a “fixed” schedule.  Each week we conduct a “Roll Call” to determine availability.  We do our best to accommodate individual scheduling requests.

  • There is limited space for new registrations.  This program usually has a wait list.

College Prep Program Details:

The College Prep Fall Program is designed to be a competitive opportunity to play Fall Baseball for experienced players.  New candidates are welcome.  The College Prep schedule provides multiple options for participation each weekend.  Players are assigned to one or more sessions based on their personal availability.  They are not expected to attend all sessions.  We build weekly rosters for multiple time slots.  The rosters are comprised of returning Ruffnecks veteran players, candidates for the Ruffnecks program at the 15U, 16U and 17U levels, and experienced players who simply want to play Fall Baseball.

  • Wood Bats exclusively.
  • College Prep players participate in a combination of NEBC Fall League games, Fall Tournament games, and Red vs. Blue Ruffnecks intrasquad Games.
  • Red vs. Blue Games are competitive and evaluative for college prep players seeking instructive feedback.  We occasionally have college coaches work Red vs. Blue games.
  • NEBC League games are against non-Ruffnecks opponents.  There are also opportunities to play in an NEBC tournament game.
  • There are no “fixed” rosters.  Each week rosters are built for the different time slots and competitive opportunities on the weekend schedule.  We limit rosters to 11-12 players to maximize playing, prioritize pitching, and to account for last minute absences.  We can accommodate 24 players for Red vs. Blue games.

General Features & Benefits of the Ruffnecks Fall Baseball Program

Ruffnecks Fall Baseball is intended to be compatible with most student-athlete’s fall schedules.  The 13U Fall Program is Sundays ONLY, but we work with families with schedule conflicts.  Players ages 14U to 18U can participate with flexible scheduling in the High School Wood Bat and College Prep programs.  Players have options for playing on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday on a week-to-week basis.  We work hard to accommodate requests. Players may request multiple days/slots (based on availability). All play at least one day per weekend.  Team rosters are shuffled and posted every week.  A few things to note:

  • 13U Fall Baseball – Sundays Mornings Only (Space limited to 50 participants)
  • HS Wood Bat Ruffnecks – (Friday – Sunday Options)
  • College Prep Ruffnecks – (Friday – Sunday Options)
  • No Mid-Week Activity – Weekends only
  • No Practices – Other than the instructive elements of our Fall offerings, there are no practice days scheduled.
